SumNews Author Guidelines

SumNews, NECPAs bi-monthly magazine, serves a diverse and growing membership of more than 14,500+ CPAs and other accounting professionals in public practice, industry, government and education. We are always seeking quality articles from authors who have information of interest to our membership.

Articles


Articles appear in each issue and provide in-depth coverage of hot topics, current events, developing issues and news within the profession. They are typically around 1,500 words.

Submitting an Article


SumNews articles are around 1,500 words and cover current events, news within the profession and special interest topics. Articles appear in each issue to provide in-depth coverage of hot topics and developing issues.

Recent topics include trends in taxation, practice management, succession planning, marketing, client services and relationships, students and education.

Review Process


You may submit articles or article concepts at any time for consideration in SumNews. Articles sent directly to NECPAs are forwarded to the appropriate Editorial Board members. NECPAs will contact authors if they are interested in using the article. There is no guarantee as to when the article will be published.

Author Checklist


  • Submit an article no more than 1,500 words to hnaranjo@necpas.org
  • Be sure to include the following in your email: 
    Name 
    Phone number 
    Mailing address
    Email address
  • Also include a brief biography (one to two sentences) that includes your job title, place of employment and a means for readers to contact you
